Kartik Patel, DO, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained vitreo-retinal surgeon with two additional years of education beyond medical school and residency training. He specializes and treats all medical and surgical diseases affecting the retina including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachments.
Dr. Patel received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Scranton and was awarded his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, P.A. He completed his internship at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, NY. He later finished a three year residency at Nassau University Medical Center and Stony Brook University Medical Center. During his final year in residency, Dr. Patel served as chief resident. He completed his fellowship training in retina and vitreous surgery at the University of Texas in Houston, TX.
Dr. Patel is a member of many professional organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. He loves the many technological advances in the field of ophthalmology and attends courses around the country in order to bring those techniques to his patients. He is known for genuinely caring about his patients and their care as well as providing personal care. He makes sure the patients know what their diagnostic imaging means and where they are at their point in their treatment.
Aside from ophthalmology, Dr. Patel loves spending time with his wife and two daughters and enjoys baseball and skiing.
